At the Oregon Dunes State Pak, the wind has created incredible sand paintings. For scale, this image is shot straight downward from a kneeling position, covers an area about two feet wide. An interesting aside, I took six frames here in 1982, back when I couldn't afford to waste much film (today I'd shoot a couple hundred digital frames...and maybe not end up with a better image!) Of those six, I only printed one, thought it was great and made several large prints of it. Recently when scanning in my old slides, I looked at all of the images, and liked all the others more than my former favorite, which is shown below. The others all feature organic curves, this one is much more linear. I find it interesting how my tastes have changed over time, I'm sure this probably speaks volumes to a pshrink, a self-designed inkblot test ;-)
